How to Reveal Asterisk Password without Software?

This is a very useful tutorial to reveal a router’s WEP WPA password at your parent’s place, they tend to forget the password or misplaced the paper they wrote it down. It can be done manually with Google Chrome browser without the need to download or install any asterisk password reveler software.

I am assuming you are accessing the router via your parent’s computer. The router’s default address is 192.168.1.1. Since all router has different user interface, in this example, I am using a Gmail password box to demonstrate how to reveal the asterisk.

• Step 0 – Access the router via 192.168.1.1, login. Usually the user and password is “admin”.
• Step 1 – Highlight the password, then right click.
• Step 2 – Select ‘Inspect Elements’

• Step 3 – Look for the ‘password’ input code

• Step 4 – Replace it with ‘text’ as shown in the screen shot

The password masked by the asterisk are now automatically revealed in text form, no longer hidden under the asterisk.

If the above method is too geeky or complicated, you might find this simple software useful. Again, you need to have access to your parent’s computer while performing this simple task.
